Bikes are just getting sexier and meaner in 2009, with manufacturers lining up some pretty good surprises, lets have a look at 5 bikes that I would love to splurge on.
The Vectrix SBK concept tops my list of bikes for the new year. Vectrix has unveiled what is claims is the world’s first electric superbike – and if the performance figures it quotes in its handout are for real, it’s very close to the mark.

Driven by a 240V, 60kW permanent magnet, brushless DC motor the bike can do the quarter mile in 12 seconds. With company quoted top speeds of over 200km/hr and an ample battery life to keep you throttling the accelerator, the Vectrix blows away the other bikes in terms of technology and eco-friendliness.
The Ducati Streetfighter with its twin stainless mufflers stacked on the right is redefining Streetfighter styling. Packing 155 horses of power from its 1099cc, L-Twin cylinder engine, the Ducati also features an exposed tubular steel Trellis frame, 10-spoke wheels and Brembo front disk brakes. Definitely a looker for the streets.

Powering its way through comes the Harley-Davidson VRSCF V-Rod Muscle with a Revolution 1250cc V-Twin liquid-cooled engine, it features a fat, 240 mm rear tire, Brembo triple-disc brakes with available ABS, satin chrome straight-shot side pipes, and a drag strip-worthy clutch.

Next on the list of bikes to look out is the ultra modern looking back from the future BMW K1300R. The K1300R looks like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. The bike features optional tractional control and a quick shifter. The bike also features a electronically adjustable suspension. Although you might not find many takers for the asymetric headlights the K1300R definitely makes a statement.

Finishing the post is the 2009 VMAX from Yamaha. This mean machine packs in a 65-degree 1679cc V4 engine in a lightweight aluminium chasis. 5-speed transmission with a slipper clutch and wave style brake discs with ABS and Brembo master cylinders. The VMAX also allows for complete rear and front suspension adjustability.
